This weekend, we hosted the YLC leadership retreat for @uthealthsa Teen Health - developing the skills these students need to lead peer conversations about health in their schools.

Through new challenges designed specifically for their growth, they practiced:

✨ Leading by stepping aside
✨ Lifting up quieter voices

This men’s retreat brought together individuals from all stages of life, from young teens to men in their 70s, to take on challenges, encourage one another, and build trust through shared experiences.

From team building activities on the ground to high challenges, every participant had the opportunity to step forward, support others, and grow in their own way.

Great seasons start with strong teams. East Centr Great seasons start with strong teams.

East Central Softball returned to the ropes course this year to keep building what helped carry them all the way to the State Tournament last season.

This program focused on three key areas the athletes chose to improve:

Communication.
Trust.
Focus.

Through a variety of challenges, the team learned how to adapt, communicate clearly, and support one another under pressure.

From working together on the Giant Ladder, pairing new athletes with returning teammates, to finishing as a full team on the 14-foot wall, every player had a role in the success of the group.

One powerful moment came when Coach stepped up first, setting the tone with leadership, safety, and clear communication.

By the end of the program, the athletes shared something we hear often:

They trusted each other more.

This softball team returned to the ropes course to continue strengthening what matters most on and off the field: communication, trust, and focus.

Through a series of new challenges, these athletes worked together with their feet on the ground, learning how to communicate clearly, adapt, and support one another when the pressure was on.

From the Giant Ladder, where returning athletes partnered with new teammates, to the 14-foot wall, where every single player made it over with the help of their team, the message was clear:

One of the most powerful moments came when the coach stepped up first, setting the tone with courage, safety, and leadership.

By the end of the program, the athletes shared something we hear often:

They trusted each other more.

At first, they struggled.

Instead of talking about a ball, we reframed the challenge using language that reflected the workplace.

Suddenly the team saw it differently.

The team came together and completed the goal smoothly and efficiently.

The Churchill High School Girls Choir joined us on the ropes course to strengthen communication, build relationships, and learn by doing.

They tackled challenges together.
Supported each other physically and verbally.

Even their choir directors stepped into the challenges alongside them - modeling leadership, courage, and trust.

This is a half-day faculty & staff team development program in action.

This Team came with clear goals:
• strengthen relationships
• improve communication
• address habits that impact the classroom
• build unity across the entire faculty

We began together as one large group - building trust, laughter, and shared understanding.

Then the team split into two paths:
Some chose to explore low elements and get their feet off the ground.
Others stayed grounded with equally impactful challenges focused on collaboration and problem-solving.

Every participant chose their level of involvement and support for the team.

Different paths.
Same outcomes.
Stronger communication.
Clearer leadership.
Deeper connection.

We finished the day back together - one unified team.

This is experiential learning for educators.
Learning by doing. Reflecting. Growing together.
